What a beautiful and hopeful story! I love how the author tells the story in a way that I can relate to and am able to believe.
Loved reading it, thanks poodlesister.
I’ll send a pm to the next reader and will send it on as soon as I’ve got their address!

This arrived safely in France (with snacks! yay! and a lovely card and bookmark - thank you). I gather the Midnight Library has wandered off the beaten track more than once, so hopefully this won't stray too far. I have another ring to send on to Icila so I will send this along with that one.
Thanks so very much for persevering and sending out replacement books - this refers to everyone in this ring I guess.
All the very best, have a happy start to the fall term. Even though I'm retired and my children are grown, end of August always feels like the start of something new to me.
Important update: The snacks are stroopwaffels! If you have yet to discover this wonderful Dutch treat, joy awaits you. Thanks, Enitnaj!

Journal Entry 8 by penelopewanders at Saint-Loup-des Vignes, Centre France on Thursday, September 8, 2022
This is here as a bookcrossing ring - third time lucky it seems, because this bookring stalled twice before but was relaunched. In a way I understand -this is one of those books which is worth keeping (or preferably getting one's own copy!).
As someone else mentioned, indeed - who hasn't wondered about the road not taken? I had that poem pinned on my door for a number of years, and still occasionally think about some of the decisions I've made and muse on what might have been....
I really enjoyed this book, as I have the two others I've read by this author. In a way I enjoyed the first part more than the ending, when Nora was finding her way through various lives, as opposed to Hugo-like flicking through various options.
Towards the end I had the impression the tone became a bit more self-helpish, which I didn't appreciate quite so much.
I relished the various quotes used (and looking at my review of another book by Haig I see this was a practice I was already glad of then).
I am wondering about suggesting this for my bookclub, and am already looking into getting a copy of my own (not by keeping this one!).
As ever, grateful to bookcrossing for letting me discover new books and authors.
I'll be sending this on to Icila, but it may have to be after I get back from a trip out of the country coming up.

As expected, this didn't get out before I left on a trip, but now it's on its way towards western France. Enjoy!
Thanks so much for making this available and for persevering with the ring.

Thank you penelopewanders, I found the book in my mailbox along with one from Fifna.
Mount TBR is soaring but I'm looking forward to reading it.

Funny how this book had its way to replicate the story. What are the lost copies lives ?
Thank you for sharing, I w’ll do my best to send the book safely to the next participant.

On its way to LilyKlip in Germany. Have a safe trip little book !
The book arrived with me today. Thank you! It's next in line.
It is not a bad book and certainly an easy read but after a few "lives" it became boring as it was basically always just leading to the simple truth of: No life is perfect. Not even the perfect one.
-----Warning: Spoilers ahead----
I also wasn't convinced by the writing. Especially towards the ending I found myself just scanning through some pages because I just found it too - not sure which adjective to pick here - naive? positive? condescending? Also, some of the dialogues Nora had with people felt very forced. They often offered up information that they know she should know without even being prompted: e.g. Ash telling her that someone has been their neighbour for 3 years and they went camping with him, after she didn't recognise the neigbour. Why would he throw that into the conversation?
Nora, who studied philosophy, was also way too impressed by some very simple ideas Mrs. Elm offered.
And the ending was a bit too cheesy for my taste. You don't go through depression for years, try to end your life and then everything is just fine.
I think I might have appreciated this book more when I was in my twenties. Anyway, thanks for sharing and thank you for organising replacement books twice!
I will contact the next reader and send this on its way as soon as possible.

Put this in the post last night. Safe travels!
It is finally here! I can't believe it. Thank you all for going into such troubles to continue this twice stalled bookring!
Looking forward now to reading it....

I really liked the idea of choosing different lives and see what might have happened. This was interesting and no life description boring.
But while reading this book I asked myself what lives would I have chosen. And funnily enough- I couldn't think of one. I am happy with my life. If I'd consider a different life I wouldn't have got my son as he is for example - and this would be impossible.
Yes, there are somewhat darker times in my life as in every ones life, but they don't overwhelm me.
So I was sometimes a bit annoyed with Nora, never being content, never starting to improve her "root life".
Thank you for making this available and never giving up when the previous copies got lost!!

2 people read the book in my household.
I enjoyed the premise of the story and thought it very clever. Then through the middle I was a bit bored. And the end felt like a self-help book. Too bad... but all in all, I am not sorry I read the novel. Thanks Edwardstreet, and I'll try to keep this book travelling.
