I found this softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. As per the subtitle, it's an anthology of comics about "queer witches of color", with a variety of styles and themes. Among my favorites:

"Fluid" by Veronica Agarwal is about the gender-fluid Ramona/Ramon, who's a witch - and feels like a boy, but since boys can't be witches, what's s/he to do? Good thing there's another friendly neighborhood witch around with some encouraging advice!

"Te Perdi" by Maria LLorens and Devaki Neogi features a woman who's desperate to save the life of her partner Adela, whose medical treatments seem to be failing. With her grandmother's help she's prayed to everything she can think of, to no avail - so she seeks out a very dangerous goddess indeed, and makes a deal... This one has a tough lesson about love, grief, and fear, and the true reasons behind one's choices.

"The Shop That Never Stays" by Gabrielle Robinson and Hannah Lazarte is about a woman who wanders into the titular shop and finds that she can't leave it. Unknown time passes, with customers coming and going but never returning, with no way out for our heroine - until one handsome woman turns up - and comes back again. Will she be the one to break the spell?

Wow! Such a great collection! I don't think there's a bad story in the bunch! And that cover! Gorgeous!

It's hard to pick favorites but I'll give it a try:

I loved Your Heart is an Apple by Nivedita Sekar about Snow (yes Snow White) but the evil queen/witch is not her evil stepmother but a lover/partner whom she gives her heart to only to have it replaced by an apple as the queen walks out of her life. Snow slowly returns to the dating world and you watch as she struggles to mend her heart and move on. She meets other women who are also struggling with relationships gone wrong, Beauty from Beauty and the Beast, Ariel who can no longer return to the sea permanently, and finally Sleeping Beauty who Snow finally connects with and as SB helps her move on, Snow also helps SB. Very well done! I kept thinking about this story days later!

The Whisperer by Arianne Hokoki about a woman coping with depression. She meets another woman having a similar struggle and together they help each other.

Fluid by Veronica Agarwal about Ramona/Ramon struggling with identity. In the end, another witch provides Ramona/Ramon with material to help them find comfort in who they are so they can make the decision on their own and not based on who others think they should be. Heartwarming.

Does what it says on the tin, really: a delightful and varied collection of comics featuring queer witches, with a lovely diverse range of settings, styles, characters, and creators. I'm not a great comics reader so am probably missing some of the subtleties, but it made for a very enjoyable afternoon's reading.

I had mixed opinions on this one! I think the very short format wasn’t always beneficial to the comics. Not all the authors were able to pack their stories into such small space successfully.

Just started reading. So far so good…

Really cute, I’d like to see some of these as full length graphic novels.

Passed on to a friend who is into queer lit and comics.
