This book was good! I've read it in Greek years ago and it was great to now re-read it in English. This specific edition features the altered title, but the text is I believe the original, so yes, you'll come upon 10 little nigger boys, not Indians and not soldiers or whatever. Annoying by today's standards, but on the other hand more original and you get the author's inspiration with the nursery theme etc
( How people were thinking on those eras! To entertain a child with such lyrics! But it is what it is!). On my opinion it's always preferable to read the original, even if it's disturbing, because always something goes missing in translation.
As it happens on many Agatha Christie's novels, this book doesn't avoid some hyperbole or the prejudices of this era's British elit towards everyone really, but it's still a well-written book.
Judging the book very strictly, it appears a bit "naive" on many aspects...But it has a nice pace, it's atmospheric, the narration flows easily and is lively, sparing gruesome details. Agatha Christie's writting style makes even complicated stories seem simple, but never simplistic, while she knew how to keep a reader's interest without having to fill pages after pages with split guts, rivers of blood, brains on the floor...
This is a pleasant book to pass the time, as pleasant can be a book containing tons of murders anyway... I finished it in two afternoons and I had a good time : )
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Delphi_Reader for the book, the homemade magnet and the extra bookplates. I adore the Smurf one. I used to be a big fan. This is so nostalgic.
And thank you Bookworm-lady for starting the ray.

I absolutely enjoyed every moment of reading. This may not be the perfect book, but it is the perfect Agatha Christie. Great pacing, clever plot, and a good mystery without gore. This one also stands out in its tension and atmosphere as the characters are being hunt down one by one. It is the first of her books I read many many decades ago, the one that got me hooked as a devoted fan. I have re-read it in the past. It is still a blast to read this time and that is testament to how good it is. Thanks for sharing this as a bookray.

Some of the racial description in this book is really unacceptable to the modern reader and made it an uncomfortable read. Setting that aside, I don't think this is Christie's best, as there's a bit less character interest than I expect from her books (possibly because of the nature of the guests). Ten strangers are invited to an island, they all have some sort of murder in their past, and then they start dying - the suspense is strong and I would never have guessed who did it.
