The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley
2 journalers for this copy...
This book looks fascinating, which is why I picked it up, but I am so far behind, and have so many books from other book crossers that I need to read and journal, but I’ve decided to go ahead and release this one. Someday when I’m not backed up for a year or two it will hopefully come back into my life.
I’m sending this as a wish list RABCK in memory of Oppem’s birthday. I hope you enjoy😊
Thank you for your kindness in thinking of me. I appreciate it and am honored to receive in memory of Oppem's birthday.
This is not a traditional story as we count the time in Samuel Hawley's life by the bullet holes in his body and the accompanying story of how each was received. He lives a violent life which he seems to have fallen into more than chosen. He does make the choice sometimes and sometimes that has truly tragic results.
He gets married and becomes the father of a little girl. When his wife dies he is left with his baby. He goes off to mark more of his life in bullet holes, leaving his baby with her maternal grandmother. When he feels he has accomplished all he needs to accomplish he goes back for her. She is still a very young child and lives an outlaw life with her father. Together they mourn the wife and mother they lost. Together they face everything. The daughter learns her father's skills and tries to fit in like a normal kid. When they return to the town her grandmother lives in they settle down for awhile. But trouble is always brewing and biding its time.
