I just caught this book at Pizza a Fetta. This sounds like one my Dad might like as well, so when I am done I will pass it on to him.

This was a really good book! I didn't want to put it down. The pass key was easy to figure out, though. Does anybody know what the code is after the epilogue?
I am going to loan this to my Dad, and when he is done with it I am going to do a bookring with it.

I finished the book! I enjoyed it. I was able to guess the elevator code and I knew what the pass-key was based on though I didn't get the final answer. Oh, my DH got the answer to the code at the end of the book it means "we are watching you". I plan to pass this book along for others to enjoy =)

Journal Entry 12 by BigrTex from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA on Wednesday, January 26, 2005
Arrived while I was out of town this week. I'm juggling 3 books this week for the first time in my life, but I expect to be able to start it this weekend. Looking forward to it.

Journal Entry 13 by BigrTex from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA on Monday, January 31, 2005
I got to start it yesterday. I'm PMing MysteryMish this evening to get their address and expect to finish and send it off by the end of the week.

Journal Entry 14 by BigrTex from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA on Monday, February 7, 2005

  • I took a course in Cryptography in grad school, about the time this book was originally published, and keep a toe in the cryptography waters because of working in software development.
  • Last week was also pretty stressful (unpacking at a new house, getting ready for my brother to visit, preparing for a big presentation at work).

Those could be reasons why I didn't get into this book of Dan Browns nearly as much as the other three, or it could be that he has developed as a writer since he wrote this.
Please don't misunderstand me; I gave it a 7, it's a good book, it just didn't live up to my expectations based on his other books.

I have Mish's address, and should be sending this off later this afternoon.

Loved this book! Very suspenseful, with lots of great plot twists. Kept me guessing until the end. Not to difficult of a read either. Very enjoyable. Will be sending to Pam99 in Scotland by the end of the week for a bookray.

Journal Entry 24 by Navig8r from -- Somewhere in London 🤷‍♀️ , Greater London United Kingdom on Monday, April 25, 2005
This book arrived today. Excellent - I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks very much for sending it... and with a postcard from Romania in addition! I will read this as soon as I can and pass it on. It should be a week or so before I get going on it but I read my last Dan Brown in about 2 days so hopefully it won't be long!

Journal Entry 25 by Navig8r from -- Somewhere in London 🤷‍♀️ , Greater London United Kingdom on Monday, May 9, 2005
I enjoyed this book - it was a really fast read, like The Da Vinci Code. However, I could see the ending coming a mile off, which annoyed me. And I cracked the code too soon at the end, so when I got to the part in the book where it was revealed I thought 'well, at last!'. I understand this is quite a common problem with the book. It was what I would call a good summer mystery read though; not too thought-provoking but with something interesting to keep you hooked.

Thank you for sending it round! I will be posting it on today.

Book has arrived. What a nice surprise. I will read it as soon as I can. Thanks.

Journal Entry 32 by caligula03 from Hayward, California USA on Wednesday, October 19, 2005
I enjoyed the book but it took me longer to warm to the story and characters than it did for either Angles and Demons or The Da Vinci Code. I think Brown has more fun writing about art history than cryptology.

Received today. I am currently reading 2 other bookrings/rays, but they should be quick reads. As soon as I'm done one of them, I'll start on this one. Thanks for sharing!!

Journal Entry 35 by Heaven150 from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Wednesday, November 30, 2005
I thought this was a pretty good book. A quick read, easy read, but with enough twists and turns to keep me interested. This is my first Dan Brown book, although I have a few others somewhere in Mount TBR. I have catrionamoore address and will mail this off on the weekend.

Journal Entry 36 by Heaven150 from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Saturday, December 3, 2005
Mailed today to catrionamoore.

Journal Entry 37 by appletreen from Coalville, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Saturday, December 10, 2005
I have no recollection of signing up for this ray or for passing on my address, so this book was a complete surprise. I have the book I am reading and another book ahead of this one so i will try and get to it as soon as possible.

Journal Entry 38 by appletreen from Coalville, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Monday, January 2, 2006
I enjoyed this as much as I did The Da Vinci code; the first Dan Brown book I read. I imagine that the more books this author writes the greater the feeling of homogenisation will become. Whilst I would not attempt to write a mystery embroiled with codes and twists and turns of the plot there does seem to be only a feasible number of times it can be done and the story remain fresh.

As I said I did enjoy the book, it just wasn’t as awe-inspiring as the first time you read a Dan Brown book.

I have tried contacting Micks to pass the book along.
