Just re-read this book which is a mixture of childhood memoir and account of the death of the author's father. The thing which makes this book so good is that Morrison writes honestly about himself and hid dad, warts and all. You feel like your really get to know both of them, rather than it being a sugar-coated, rose-tinted glasses memoir.

I enjoy reading memoirs and I found the memoir parts of this book more enjoyable than the rather graphic passages about Morrison’s father’s illness. Well written.
