This just arrived, along with the kind gifts of BC labels and the postcard. Thank you so much! I've read one of Rowell's other books and enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to checking this out.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. Unfortunately, I think the main character put me off, and I just couldn't enjoy it while being vaguely annoyed with her the entire time. Sure, she's a teenager, in her first year of college, but she came off as particularly immature. I might have bought her as a 15/16 year old more convincingly.

I liked the family dynamic, and found the author's ability to write expressively about largely everyday things engaging. Those were better at holding my attention than Cath's frequently-self-pitying drama. Some of the scenes and descriptions that the author wrote were so spot on that I think the image or feeling created will stick in my mind for a while, particularly the emergency dance party, Levi's truck, and the feeling of reading aloud with someone.

I’m looking forward to reading this one. I loved Eleanor & Park by the same author. Thank you so much for sending me this book from my wishlist!
