This is not ordinarily the kind of book I give 10 stars to, but this book is so special. Beautifully written, gut wrenching and heartbreaking, at first I took my time reading it to savor it, but the last third was a pure page turner for me.
Like other reviewers, I tried doing the math with Fielding's age to determine what year it is that Fielding is reminiscing from, and came up with a futuristic time period, yet it didn't seem he was living in a futuristic time period. Brilliant writing. Most of the characters where quite quirky, yet they also seemed so normal. This book is not at all what I expected it to be, which made me love it even more.
