Now I should point out that I'm not usually a fan of short story collections as I generally find that some work whilst others don't for me. These are no different. I enjoyed some, 'The Perfect Fruit' and 'Story of a Parrot', whilst others less so, in particular 'Confusing the Saints' which felt out of step with those around it. However, I did admire Ana Menendez's writing style and found the tales generally interesting and thought provoking.
Hopefully the next reader will also get some enjoyment from it.

Thank you for sending this to me. I very much look forward to reading this as part of the reading around the world challenge and also because it will provide a different viewpoint to Cuba than the one I got from reading "Che" which suggested all was fab in Cuba.

I enjoyed the first and the last story, however not the majority of the rest. I suspect this maybe a book that will be understood more by Cubans themselves.

Rather disappointing. None of the stories were particularly bad, but none were especially good either. I think that, like jax987654321 said, you need to be Cuban to really appreciate the stories.
