Currently reading. Actually, i'm only a little way through, and i am really impressed with Stephen King's writing style. Its good to read a well written book. I'm enjoying it.

Once finished, this has been promised to sobergirl.

Wow, this was fantastic. I can honestly say this is the best thing i have read in ages. I had seen the film, but in this case it just doesn't match. I am not a huge King fan, although Misery is my favourite book, but i would certainly recommend this to anyone. Gripping, thought-provoking, chilling, honest... I had never known it was originally written as a six part series, i actually felt that i liked this whilst reading it, gave me the chance to revise what i had just read, and added to the ambiance of the book.

My boyfriend has watched me reading this, and now says he wants a shot at it... I will give him a time limit (seeing as i originally bought the book as a gift for him, it only seems fair!!), then i will send it on to sobergirl, maybe a bookring is the answer??

Set up as a bookring.

List of participants;
1. Sobergirl - Finland - Read and passed on...
2. FiBe - Read and passed on...
3. Emeres - TBR
4. Wizzbiz

Rules below, PM me if you'd like to join.

I've borrowed these rules from Zenita (who borrowed them from nmarshall88)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the rules:

1. When you receive the book, make a journal entry so we all get the thrill of knowing where it's at.

2. Read the book, within 30 days, and make a journal entry to tell us what you have thought about the book. You can be as brief or as lengthy as you wish with your thoughts about the book.
Please remember, that there are many anxious readers patiently waiting to read the book after you. Please bear this in mind! If you tend to be a slow reader, like myself, and need the month to finish the book, please make a periodic journal entry indicating how far you are into the story, or thoughts about what you have read so far. This way we know that the book has not been forgotten in your ‘to-be-read’ pile.

3. Send a private message (PM) to the next person in line for their address. If they do not respond within three days, PM them again. If they do not respond within a week of your first message, PM the person after them and contact me.

4. When you are ready to send the book to the next person in line, make release notes/a journal entry to say when the book is leaving your hands and who'll be catching it next, and pop it into the post!

5. To the last person on the list: Please PM me when you have finished.

Thank you for participating!

One of the best books I've ever read!
WOW! I've been reading ever since Friday afternoon (with breaks for sleeping and walking the dog LOL) and now I finished it.
I was spellbound by the story.
I will send it on to FiBe on Monday.

Journal Entry 8 by FiBe from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire United Kingdom on Thursday, November 4, 2004
Book received yesterday, thanks Sobergirl. Half way through it already. I will re-journal when I have finished it and will pm Emeres for address today.

Like everyone else I loved the book. I had seen the film prior to reading the book as well and loved the film, however, it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book. I actually saw the film on holiday and ended up sobbing my little heart out in a video pub in Crete in the middle of the day (rather embarrassing)!

I especially enjoyed the fact that it had been written as a six parter and knowing that if I had had to stop reading it for a couple of days I could easily pick up the story again (although this was definitely not needed)!

Anyhow this is now going to go on to Emeres once I have her address (I forgot to send a pm yesterday).

Thanks wizzbiz for sending it out as a ring. I had always avoided Stephen King in the past as I don't like horror and read The Tommyknockers when I was young (scared the bejesus out of me!) However I did enjoy his writing style and am looking forward to reading The Shawshank Redemption in the future (the only other non scary Stephen King book I know of)!

The book arrived this afternoon, thanks Fibe for sending it and thanks to wizzbiz for starting the ring.
I can hardly wait to read it after all those positive journal entries, unfortunately there are some other books that I'll have to finish first. However, with a long and prbably rainy weekend in front of me there still is hope!

Journal Entry 12 by eMeReS from Leiden, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Wednesday, January 12, 2005
I finished the book a while ago, but didn't get round to journalling it till now.

I did enjoy the book, it is indeed easy to read with all the rewinding and forwarding in the story. The film, along with the Shawshank Redemption, features high in my top ten of favorite films all time. For me the film captures the themes and feel of the book perfectly.

Years ago I devoured every Stephen King book I could get my hands on, but after a while that just stopped. Reading this book made me realise why, I do admire Stephen Kings imagination and pure talent for story telling, but at times I get the feeling he is showing off too much. Not the best example, but something that struck me as odd, is that he gives away the key element of the plot in the introduction, as if only people who have already bought the book when it was published as a serial will read this one?

Nevertheless, it was a gripping and enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing it, wizzbiz!

Back home after its mini-journey. Thanks everyone, i think this was a huge success, with people buying it in other languages and recommending it to friends!

Thank you!

(I will now try to get the boyfriend to read it, as it was a gift for him in the first place! I'll show him your reviews as an incentive!)
