"Angela's Ashes is the luminous memoir of Frank McCourt, born in Depression-era Brooklyn to recent Irish immigrants and raised in the slums of Limerick, Ireland. Wearing rags for diapers, begging a pig's head for Christmas dinner and gathering coal from the roadside to light a fire, Frank endures poverty, near-starvation and the casual cruelty of relatives and neighbors-yet lives to tell his tale with eloquence, exuberance and remarkable forgiveness."
A good book. I loved how the author wrote in the manner they spoke. Made you feel you were there. It is a wonder they survived at all. The book stops when Frank goes back to America. I would like to find out what happened to him in America. I wonder if there will be a sequel?

Glad to have caught this at our meetup. Loved the movie, heard the book was even better. It is going to be my next read.

Loved this book. I found the dialect and content captured the feel for the times in which it was set. Am looking forward to reading 'Tis' also by Frank McCourt.
