Journal Entry 4 by SoepVanDeDag at finding my place, Somewhere -- Controlled Releases on Thursday, November 3, 2022

Blurb:
"Cynthia Rowland McClure was an outwardly vivacious and successful television journalist who inwardly had slipped into the depths of bulimia.
For twelve lonely and desperate years, as she battled her personal monster, suicide was often on her mind. It seemed the only way to escape the hopelessness she felt. Cynthia managed to hide her struggle until a friend finally steered her to a Dallas clinic. There she was able to confront the realities of her past and look to the future with optimism."
Thanks, SopeVanDeDag :o)

On all the books on this topic I've read so far, this one is the best in my opinion.
Ok, all the reference to God I wouldn't need - but as Cynthia (and many others) take comfort in the believe and religion, that's part of her story.
I was far more interested and fascinated in the therapy aspects she described. There was a time as well when I got very upset - and only later on could (mostly) understand and accept the scheme behind. Yeah - well, that was really tough and probably mean, but most likely most efficient in the long run.
Anyway, probably Mike would have made me quite angry and mad from the onset on where he just raised and left when Cynthia and the reader was just in the middle of the talk/thought. No matter what motive behind... ;)
Nevertheless it worked all out in the end, without making all this too colorful and easy-looking. Regress is part of the game... I liked that.
It's also admirable how engaged Cynthia was afterwards in supporting others to fight their monster and freeing themselves. Together with Mike she helped numerous people to overcome their disorder.
In August 2003 Cynthia died by cancer. But before, she found her husband and got her family :)
