Hotel World

The best thing about this book (told from 5 points of view) was the theory about how ghosts progress after their bodies' death. It was very comforting.
I picked this because I needed a pink cover for a Goodreads group challenge, and I had liked an Ali Smith short story in an anthology read long ago. She can characterize and plot with the best of them!
All the protagonists except for the ghost had a quality that rendered them less than sympathetic: Else left the hot water running in her free hotel room, which messed it up and got the maid fired; Lise liked to play infantile pranks like calling people and hanging up; Penny shoplifted; Clare cursed and yelled too much. Sara, on the other hand, was perfectly lovely. It was an interesting touch that she had been a champion swimmer and was eager to know her time in ... everything.
