Perhaps this was bound to disappoint, after Chevalier's wonderful first novel, Girl With A Pearl Earring, but I found this story slow to get into with a rather odd subject and plot. That said, Chevalier is still a very good writer and has a way of turning a phrase.

Released on Monday, June 07, 2004 at Sheridan Nursery/Weall & Cullen, Sheppard Ave E in North York, Ontario Canada.

I left this book on a shelf beside some annuals at the garden centre this afternoon. However, while driving home, I realized that maybe I should have left it beside all those calla lilies I saw. I've always thought of those flowers as funeral flowers and much of this book centres around a cemetary.

I picked this book up at the nursery, thinking it had been forgotten. What a nice surprise to find out the book had been sent on a journey! I took it home, and forgot all about it until just a few weeks ago. So I decided to save it for my vacation.

I'm leaving tomorrow for Dominican Republic, and will read it there, and then leave it behind for its next leg of the journey.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

Lots of English-speakers at Hotel Tropix, a wonderful small hotel with a very friendly and relaxing ambience. There are already a few shelves of books in the bar area, so this particular book might just be put away there, to be discovered in a few months or years. But, to boost its bookcrossing activity, I left it beside the pool....
