And now you know which one of us reprobates picked it up lol

Shall update this again when read (although I've no doubt my 16 AND 13yr old girls will get to it first!)

An enjoyable read although for me it never quite took off the way I thought it might do which was disappointing.

There were many laughs to be had along the way and many of Clara's thoughts I sympathised with and recognised from my own life, but they weren't quite enough to turn this from a slightly above average book into a fantastic book.

Now I feel guilty and want to apologise for not loving it to bits! Sorry...

Shall pop it onto the small(ish) pile ready for the Brum Meet next month if no one grabs it in the meantime!

This is the kind of book that makes me wish my TBR wasn't so big. If the TBR were smaller I would have gotten to and enjoyed it sooner. There is a lot of bad chicklit out there - this rises to the top. I loved this book.

Journal Entry 11 by your-book-fairy from South Orange, New Jersey USA on Saturday, December 24, 2005
Received in my chick-lit bookbox, which has finally returned home!

This looks like a really cute book, and I love how well traveled it's been. I'm moving in a few weeks, but will keep this out of the big boxes so I can have it on hand when I finish the relay book I'm reading now!

Well, there were a ton of things I should have done this week and other books I should have read, but I'm glad I got into this book instead. Like tiggysbabes, who read this with a one year old, my daughter is now just over nine months, which I think made the whole thing even funnier and more relevant and somewhat heartbreaking all at the same time. This was especially true since my daughter had the flu this week, so I was even more the stereotypical unshowered, unmakeup-ed, unsexy mom than usual. It was actually so funny to me, because I was just trying to explain to someone that my daughter will never understand that I wasn't born looking like someone's mother, that I was once a skinny, cute gal with high heeled shoes and nail polish and lots of great cosmetics, and then here came Clara, reflecting on the same exact thing.

This had a sharper wit and humor than I expected, and I really enjoyed it and would love to read more by her (though it seems her most recent book is already out of print, so that may take some creative bookcrossing to track down).
