This is a haunting and horrifying story about a society where all fertile women are forced to be surrogates for commanders and their wives by being systematically raped every month. They are stripped of all their rights, given uniforms to wear, and moved from family to family to serve as baby machines for the powerful. Women are no longer allowed to read, own property, have jobs, or go out in public alone.
