Fairy tale mash-up for grown-ups. A witch finds an unattractive abandoned baby and raises him as her own son with the help of a cat and a bear. Called Lump, he grows up outside of society and becomes pretty insufferable. Motherhood distracts the witch from her work maintaining the Pattern (of life, or the universe) and she is cast out of the sisterhood and loses her magical powers and must use other skills to survive and provide for her unappreciative son.
