I purchased and read this for a book discussion group, and it got mixed reviews. Some members loved it and others found that it did not resonate with them. Many (far more than usual!) did not finish the book. I finished, but was still among the subset that didn't enjoy it all that much. I found it a bit repetitive in places, and most of the compelling information seemed to come at the beginning of the book. Also, this was translated from the German and I wondered what may have gotten "lost in translation." Perhaps the phrasing was so much more compelling in German, but I'll never know.

By and large, I appear to be in the minority on this one as the book got good reviews on Amazon and was a New York Times bestseller. Maybe it just missed the mark a bit for me and will be enjoyed more by future readers.

I am happy to report that I loved it. I am fascinated to learn about trees and forests, especially about their social aspects. I always experience a sense of wonder when I am wandering in nature and looking up at the giant trees, or simply taking a walk into smaller wooded areas in local parks. Now I am even more in awe by all the life and things that are happening in nature. The book is very well written and it is divided into small, very digestible chapters. I am very happy to have the opportunity to read the book.

THANK YOU for your patience in waiting for this looooong overdue Journal Entry, my Dear BC Friend.🤗 In one of my hands, I am holding this copy of a very special Belated Birthday Wishlist Book of mine wished for on 30 January 2018 that I just found in a HGG/OBG Combo Parcel (how apropos for my current BC situation😉) sent by you, in the box where my 2020 HGG and OBG things received during the end of the year were collected...and some already from 2021...as I'm working toward my goal of completing my #1 BC HGG/OBG* Catch-up Project by my 17 year BC Anniversary coming up 11 June 2021. In my other hand, I hold another Kleenex taken from a box nearby that I have been using to wipe tears of JOY with, so they will not drop upon this book I am SOOOOO looking forward to reading, NOR the VERy DEAR to my ❤ABsoLUTEly BREATHlessly BEAUtiful PERfectly executed iridescent Forest Green Origami Dragonfly that you created especially for me that matches those on a blank note card inside the clear plastic box wrapped in a very unique tissue paper that it travelled in...THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!🤗 "Willie", the enchanting Russian Blue on the oversized Postcard you included, is watching over me while she stands near propped up over 3 BC Children's Bookplates, 2 LOVEly Floral Vintage Education Chart Postcards, 2 Fringe blank inside Floral Notecards, 2 BC Release Bags...and a Partridge in a Pear Tree. 🤣HAHAHA....not really...it's the Christmas portion of your Parcel and I couldn't resist, as I'm anxious to finally get my own 2020 HGG Christmas Parcels sent off. In reality, it is one little golden Merry Christmas Christmas Tree card with your thoughtful handwritten messages inside, with one sheet of round Official Bookcrossing Book Stickers, one Classic "On Going on a Journey" BC Bookplate I've not seen before that is still available to order from the Supply Store😉 https://www.bookcrossing.com/store#!/On-Going-on-a-Journey-English/p/216208030/category=14896029 , and one VERy SPEcial BEAUtiful little blank inside handmade "YOU MAKE ME SMILE" card with a green color stencil paper cut-out of a particular color green that is also very special to me, that surrounds an intricately cutout colored paper Matryoshka doll...you must own little Scherenschnitte Scissors...like me, although mine are currently missing in action, VERy old, and straight...which I much prefer to any I could replace them with, as it seems as though they are all made curved these days. This past year has added sooooo many more challenges than were "usual" for all of us with the addition of this Dampemic we have all been struggling through. Hope you and yours, and your demanding lttle Furbaby😊 are well and staying safe...THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, mcsar!!!❤❌⭕
