Written in the Snow: My Journey to the Seven Summits
3 journalers for this copy...
The author is the youngest Canadian to conquer the seven summits. She is also one of the few women to have done it. The book is her account of her expeditions.
I first heard of her accomplishment and the book on the radio a few weeks ago while I was driving. I knew I wanted to read her story. And I was entered into the Home Sweet Home Sweepstakes and this would be the perfect book (though I already had another book in mind at the time). I was so proud of her and wanted to share her story with the world. So I immediately ordered the book.
The book was a quick read. Her account was straight forward, but I remained in awe of her accomplishment. This is the first account I read of the Seven Summits mountaineering challenge, and I am inspired.
* A different bookcrossing label was used.

While I enjoyed reading about her actual climbing experiences, I didn't care much about the, um, 'educational' tone of the book. Sounded like she was setting herself up to become some kind of a motivational speaker with all that "find your passions, believe in yourself, say yes to everything!!!" babble. Not my thing, but I'm glad that she obviously found HER thing :D

Thank you for the great HGG package! I wished for something related to hiking, so I'm looking forward to reading this :) I'm not much of a hiker, but I like to be able to hike through books.
