A humorous and disturbing true story of a man born to a woman part-poet, part-mad, and raised by an even crazier psychiatrist and his family. It's a fairly quick and ...well, enjoyable feels too frivolous. Because this kid goes through some twisted stuff. And yet, the fact remains, I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it, particularly to those interested in quirky people, social sciences or psychiatry!

Released on Friday, March 26, 2004 at Friend, but I've asked her to pass it on in Louisville, Kentucky Controlled Releases.

A friend gave me the book. I am not sure how she got it. I plan to give it back to her so she can pass it on to other friends.

Came home from a camping trip to find this waiting for me. I've been wanting to read this book since it came out and can't wait to start it. EvaLowrain offered to send it to me when she saw it on my wishlist! Thank you so, so much for your generosity!

Well, I've already sent this off to Judester, but I always find myself procrastinating the "I've read it" journal entries because I never know what to say. Anyway, I enjoyed this book. It wasn't exactly what I'd expected, but I found myself surprised in a good way. I thought it was going to be some depressing, horrific tale of childhood woes (a la Child Called It), but it was in fact much more upbeat. Some parts had me howling with laughter, particularly all the beauty school angst. I have to say that I found the parts near the end of the book, where he is recounting the obnoxious teenager things he and Nathalie did (and how horrid they often were to people) a little bit irritating to read. Overall, quite an interesting book and a quick easy and non-depressing read. What a strange childhood!
