I got this fair-condition softcover at a local thrift shop. I've enjoyed Barry's work for ages now, and while this book - published in '97 - is a bit antique for "cyberspace" topics, it should be entertaining.

Later: Yep, lots of (very) dated references - and yet it's quite amusing, not least because I remember those older platforms (Windows 95, anyone?). And many of the problems with technology vs. its users are as real today as ever, just in a different form. The section on emoticons is restricted to the ASCII versions - which I still prefer to the little cartoon faces - those are so tiny I can never tell what expression they actually have. Then again, as Barry illustrates here, deciphering the ASCII emoticons can be challenging too - especially if nobody told you to tip your head sideways to interpret them...

Barry includes links to sites he found useful and/or hilarious; some of them may still work, but I admit I didn't try them all {wry grin}.
