This book changed my life, or at least my perception of life. The way that many people often talk about "Catcher in the Rye" as a life-altering or initiatory experience is how I feel about this book. It is, almost 140 years after it was first written, the most modern, cutting edge, dangerous book I've ever read. I envy the person who gets to read it for the first time.
