The President's Hat
2 journalers for this copy...
Dining alone in an elegant Parisian brasserie, accountant Daniel Mercier can hardly believe his eyes when President Francois Mitterrand sits down to eat at the table next to him. Daniel's thrill at being in such close proximity to the most powerful man in the land persists even after the presidential party has gone, which is when he discovers that Mitterrand's black felt hat has been left behind. After a few moments' soul-searching, Daniel decides to keep the hat as a souvenir of an extraordinary evening. It's a perfect fit, and as he leaves the restaurant Daniel begins to feel somehow - different.
I read a library copy of this earlier this year and really enjoyed it. I think it'd make a good Book Club book - it's quirky!
Sent as a Christmas RABCK - hope you enjoy this! :D
Thanks so much for this! I do enjoy your bookclub recommendations. This looks fascinating. I hadn't heard about it too .... am looking forward to it. Thank you xx
Journal Entry 4 by Carole888 at Perth City, Western Australia Australia on Wednesday, February 24, 2021
Oh dear! Oh dear! I was just going through my books and realised that I had forgotten to add a journal entry to this book! And I actually read it (I think) shortly after you sent it to me possibly in early 2017!!!! I loved it .... just loved it! Thank you sooooo much ukcanaus. It was such a treat to read. I am so sorry that I didn't journal it earlier. I've actually shared it with another bookcrosser when she came to visit us .... I notice she hasn't journaled it either. Must remind her to journal it soon. So it's actually travelled to Queensland at the end of 2018.
