Travels with Casey

A writer travels with his dog in an RV across the United States.
This was an interesting and informative book to read. The author blended information about his trip with a lot of information about different dog issues. Added to that were many stories about people and their dogs. The author's personal struggles and his life story are included in the book as well. It was a pleasant read. I remember seeing this book on the shelf at the Dollar Store over four years ago, and I am glad that I bought it. Furthermore, it made the cut when I moved cross-country and ruthlessly released about half of Mount TBR before moving.

The book has arrived! Thank you so much!
I think I would like this book more if it was told by someone different! I was so irritated by the author's personal style that it made it hard to focus on the content. It was also hard for me to pinpoint what I was disliking so intensely about him. Part writing style, part whininess, part the theatrical sentimentality of the whole project?
I think my other tricky part is that I am someone who works with dogs professionally, so my viewpoint is not that of the average reader. I had to set aside some of my professional opinions, and recognize that the nits I was picking weren't going to be an issue for everyone. But it meant I ended up reading it almost more as a reminder of how casual dog owners see their pets, than as information that I personally found enlightening.
Hopefully the next reader will be a better style match!

Included in the yellow-themed box sent to the winner of the Color Sweeps. I wasn't sure which they would like best of the yellow books I had, so I included a variety!
Oh, how exciting! This is the definite indication that I'm the winner of the sweeps and what a generous box you sent. Thank-you! 3 books, plus tea and chocolate - I have a feeling I'll be nestled into my comfy chair all week, avoiding exercise in the cold winter air and enjoying my winnings. I have very eclectic reading tastes and I'm sure I'll find at least one of these to my taste, and perhaps all.
I'm a traveler but not really a dog person so I wasn't especially interested in all of his dog-focused journey. There were definitely bits of interest though.
