Bought this new to read, as Atwood is one of my favourite writers. The setting of this story is a just slightly tweaked American near-future, close enough to feel very uncomfortable. The relationship between Charmaine and her husband Stan is in the main focus during the ordinary couple's slide into desperation. As a dystopia this isn't one of the scariest ones, however, because the solution offered is so absurd. And of course there is something very wrong about it, but that is a bit too predictable, as well.

To Tyrnimarja as a part of the Finnish Wishlist Tag. Hippa!

Very Good Read! Scary and I got goosebumps as many of the things in this novel are already here! The organ trade blackmarket, the almost desperate situation in the job market etc.

Thanks again for this brand new book oofiri! I try to find a new reader for this also.

The book's here. I'm so glad I get to read it: Atwood has been one of my favourite authors for a long time. Thank you.

I think Atwood has been in a funny mood when writing this book. That was what I thought while reading the book. It has that absurd sense of reality twisting the what is to what might very well come. This wasn't the best Atwood but nevertheless very good. The ending is not quite as smooth as I wanted but of course it's not happy end ever after.

Thanks so much for this book. I want to continue this book's journey so I will see that the heart goes where it's been wished for.

Ah, Margaret Atwood book straight from my wishlist! Thank you so much for offering this book to me, aava. Thank you for lovely postcard too. Also, thanks to the couriers — eijukka and lukutuoli — for carrying the book to me.
I'm so happy I can now go and delete one book from my wishlist.
