It was in July 1918 that the entire Romanov family, the Tsar, his wife and five children were murdered. I have read several books concerning that historical event and most of those books were based upon sketchy information along with some speculation by persons who had some personal interest of the reason for that event.
This author performed a magnificent job in finding additional information relating to the event even going to the national archives of countries that were never considered to be a part of the story. Additionally, some documentation from the Soviet era have become available from the current Russian government. The Russian government felt that the centennial of that massacre in July 2018 was a proper time to release the information. The story is somewhat changed from books previously published and gives a very different point of view of the events that led up to not only that event but even to the events which led up to the Russian revolution.
Unfortunately, there are more documents about these events that are in the royal archives of several countries which are still being protected as intelligence secrets. This book seems to be the latest and most complete history of that part of Russian history. This is a fascinating book.
This book is being passed along to a friend who plans to give it as a gift to a person with much interest in Russia.
