This was donated by my partner, for bookcrossing. However I have read the book, albeit ages ago. From what I remember it was one of those books that is easily read but sticks in your head for quite a while after you've finished. I also recall that I felt it lived up to the hype at the time it came out. So, well recommended to anybody who hasn't read it already!

This was totally not was I expecting and I like it when a book can surprise me . It was well written and had me totally hooked to the very end and the last few sentences almost broke my heart !

I have a Prize Winner's Bookbox coming my way in the New Year and as this won the 2014 PEN/Faulker Award for fiction I will hold on to it for a while.

Interestingly, I read another by this author not so long ago. Unfortunately, it was not my favourite read of the month and I was disappointed in it but I am told this one by this author is better than the one I read so I'll give it a try.

Just completed this one. I thought I would read this whilst we had visitors down and I needed a little relaxation in the form of reading.

This book may not therefore have been the right choice, however I did find that I enjoyed this book much more than the previous one I had read by the same author. For me, the time warps are difficult to follow in this book - but there is no escape as even the text is blunt about where the story starts and where it is going next even though not in chronological order! Nonetheless, I did manage to piece together the story of the family, and the consequences of their decisions later as time passed.

Not sure where this will go next - but it may be another bookbox! Meanwhile I'll have a look to see if it is on a wishlist somewhere.

I loved this! The mystery pulled me through the first third and, when the big reveal happened, I was initially disappointed. I couldn't see how the book could hold my interest once I knew. But then it got even better as it explored how it might have been for people who actually experienced what the book's based on. (I'm not going to say so as not to spoil it for anyone). Looking at a famous experiment from an unfamiliar point of view, it manages to be touching and heart-breakingly poignant, yet hilarious and rambunctious, and raise challenging ethical issues, all at the same time.
