Never heard of this but it sounds interesting. Thanks!
Gah, it's annoying when a book that sounds so good turns out to be merely *just* OK. As expected, I liked the complicated background plot involving Strafford and the mystery of his disgrace. But Martin, the main character investigating this was just ewwww. Sexist, pathetic, and self-obsessed; he doesn't come across well in this #meetoo era. Female characters of supposed complexity such as Elizabeth and Eve were actually pretty flimsy and stereotypical. And the ending of the novel seemed so overblown and ridiculous, I was relieved to finish it finally.
Such a shame.
Such a shame.
