A present from my work Secret Santa who cleverly found out what I like to read and asked the salesperson in Waterstones to recommend a thriller. His wife helped him write a poem in the card. "On this year's Christmas list, comes a book with a twist...I heard you like a thriller, this one's a killer! Let's keep up the banter, from your Secret Santa."

A great thriller, very interesting insight into Japanese culture.

I often have problems with novels set in Japan because their culture is so different from ours. They are so obsessed with not losing face and men who cry or show emotion are considered weak and women are not encouraged to have a career. However the way this crime was dealt with and the inter-departmental warfare was fascinating and kept my interest.
