This is one of half a dozen books I bought at the Amnesty Big Book Sale this morning!

From Google Overview: "Quentin Jacobsen has always loved Margo Roth Spiegelman, for Margo (and her adventures) are the stuff of legend at their high school. So when she one day climbs through his window and summons him on an all-night road trip of revenge he cannot help but follow. But the next day Margo doesn't come to school and a week later she is still missing. Q soon learns that there are clues in her disappearance . . . and they are for him. But as he gets deeper into the mystery - culminating in another awesome road trip across America - he becomes less sure of who and what he is looking for. Masterfully written by John Green, this is a thoughtful, insightful and hilarious coming-of-age story."

I'm afraid I'm too old and too English for this! I did try, and I sort of enjoyed it, and I can certainly appreciate the impressive writing style, but I totally failed to think myself into the skin of an 18 year-old American boy and his friends, with their teenage obsessions like high school, prom, graduation, sex and stuff ....

Despite being only lukewarm about this story, I've since read two more novels by this author:

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Left on the shelves in the porch with the other fundraising books. Please be prepared to donate 50 pence or more to their current charity: HELP, Harrogate Easier Living Project which provides support for older or vulnerable people and those with a disability to remain independent in their own homes.

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 more than eleven million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
