Book Description: "After he's betrayed by his longtime lover, Ulric-the leader of a pack of shape-shifting immortals-takes to the streets of Bridesmere. It is there that he introduces an innocent young maiden to the sensuous delights of searing passion. But will he grant her immortality, or will he cast her from his life and send her back to the treacherous world beyond the caves?"

Took me a while to get to this book - but it was worth it. I really enjoyed it. It was better than the first book in this series. I think it took Holly a first attempt at the supernatural romance genre to get her feet wet. I enjoyed the combination of the main characters - Ulric and Juliana. Holly knows how to write good characters and great sex scenes.

Thanks to BookRabbit for lending this to me. When I got home from our little coffee soiree today, I actually had an anthology with one of Emma Holly's stories waiting for me in the mailbox (the Hot Blooded anthology). If you haven't read this one yet, I'll gladly send it your way when I've finished it. Anyhoo, it was great meeting you and I hope now that we've had the pleasure of meeting face-to-face, that we'll keep in touch and even make time to get together again soon. Now back to journaling all the other books I got from you today. :)

This was a pretty good book, not a bad read for my first Emma Holly book. I can't claim the genre is among my usual favorite since it appeared to be more of a romance than anything else, though paranormal, and didn't have as much danger and intrigue as my favorites usually do. However after an initial slow start, I began to develop an affinity for the characters and will look forward to future books in this series to see where things lead with Ulric and Juliana.

Will return to bookrabbit next time I see her. Thanks hon!

With bookrabbit's okay, I handed this off to NeedSun during my recent trip to Toronto for the 2006 BookCrossing Convention. Yup, I'm still up here in Toronto, not heading back home till tomorrow actually. NeedSun and I are sitting here (at her house) journaling all the books we picked up over the weekend. Too bad we both ended up bringing back more than we brought with. :)

Thanks for sharing this and Catching Midnight with me. I had picked up Courting Midnight at a used bookstore and was waiting until I had the first two so I could read them all.

We are sitting here journaling books instead of going out shopping.. but that is next!

I will get the book back to Bookrabbit along with Courting Midnight unless Cherie has sent her her copy.

Another romance but I love them so that was just great. I love Holly's characters. Reading this series has me very intrigued to read some of her other works to see if she keeps the same strong women. It is nice not to see all the augst belonging to the women instead of the men.

I'll get BookRabbit's address and send her both this and Courting Midnight, if she still wants them.

Thanks again Cherie.

Edit Sept 6: Sent today by air mail
