Fascinating book of a young woman looking for herself through what's left of her memories of her mother. When you read additional novels by Ms. Kincaid (the author), you'll find that "The Autobiography of My Mother" explores deeper issues of emotional and physical abandonment, and how we seek love where we can find it when we don't have practical examples of how to model love.
