(Small format bookclub hardback edition.) When a boy and his younger brother get lost in the bush on their way home, only one of them finally returns to Angel Rock, unable to say what has happened. Not long afterwards, a girl commits suicide in Sydney, and when it is discovered she is also from Angel Rock, Gibson begins an investigation that is only partially based on recent events. Is the mystery of the missing boy related to the mystery of the dead girl? Gibson is determined it is, but can he prove it? And can the little boy be found, still alive?

I kind of liked this book. The plot moved on quickly, but there wasn't as much depth to the characters as I would have liked. I felt as though sometimes things happened a bit too quickly, and things were skimmed over in the meantime; and I also felt that the ending was a bit jumbled. On the whole, though, I would place it slightly higher than the average generic mystery story. It did hold my interest.
