Revolutionary Road

This is the story of Frank and April Wheeler, a bright, beautiful, and talented couple whose empty suburban life is held together by the dream that greatness is only just round the corner. With heartbreaking compassion and clarity, Richard Yates shows how Frank and April mortgage their hopes and ideals, betraying in the end not only each other, but their own best selves.
My thoughts :A bleak story about an unhappy marriage , adultery and I quote from a review ' the emptiness of suburban consumer culture as the fullfilment of the American dream'. Since reading this I have learnt that the author himself had a very unhappy life and died without ever being commercially successful. What I really liked about this was the writing especially the dialogue between the characters. It has a tragic climax and one that shall resonate for a while. Kate Winslet picked up a Golden Globe for her role as April Wheeler.

Thanks very much for sending this over, it's in great shape and I look forward to reading it. I never saw the film, so can read this without prior knowledge.
