This is the third book in the "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series by Douglas Adams. I love this series, and have a treasured hardback edition in my permanent collection that I read every few years.

I picked up this copy of "Life, the universe and everything" secondhand, thinking that it might make a good addition to my BookCrossing shelf.

The books in the series really need to be read in the correct order; this one follows on from "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (book 1) and "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" (book 2).

Note: The cover art on this copy differs from the above picture.

I don't know if it was the things going on around my reading this (I have been in the process of moving), but I actually found the middle of this volume a bit boring. Easy to put down, in fact, which I didn't expect. Everyone raves about these books!

But the start had the witty and amusing observations that had me laughing out loud, that I had expected. Loved the comments on Krikkit/cricket, although I am a fan so I don't really know why some people insist on taking the piss!! And even Arthur understands how pendantic the MCC (Melbourne Cricket Club) can be - hilarious!!

The explainations of so many everyday things is what makes these books so funny. Somebody Else's Problem's are everywhere, aren't they!!??
