Book on Angola, which fits into the reading around the world challenge

This was not an easy read, however a very interesting one, full of historical, cultural and religious information about Angola and also another smaller country called Sao Tome e Principe. It is written by a very brave man who travelled around Angola, trying to really get an idea of what the country was like and its people. I think he succeeded, though how he lived to tell the tale, is somewhat amazing! This is no santized Michael Palin trip. I found the book a slow read as it was so full of history information etc. One interesting thing was it joined the dots a bit with a book I read on Che, the Cuban Revolutionary, written by Castro. In that book, Che is seen as a valiant revolutionary with humanitarian goals. This book gives a different perspective.

Well worth a read, even if it isn't an easy one
