This is now a bookcrossing book ☺
I came in to work today to find this book had been left for me. An ex-colleague seems to remember my enthusiasm for all that is bookcrossing and in particular my passion for finding/reading World Book Night Books.
This is a World Book Night 2015 copy. This year they have changed the format and have asked anyone rceiving the book to complete a table on the first page. The original giver was Deb in Whitby and the next receiver was SueB and now my name is recorded.
I look forward to reading this and passing it on :)

'Ten-year-old Jamie hasn't cried since it happened. He knows he should have—Jasmine cried, Mum cried, Dad still cries. Roger didn't, but then he is just a cat and didn't know Rose that well, really.
Everyone kept saying it would get better with time, but that's just one of those lies that grown-ups tell in awkward situations. Five years on, it's worse than ever: Dad drinks, Mum's gone and Jamie's left with questions that he must answer for himself.
This is his story, an unflinchingly real yet heart-warming account of a young boy's struggle to make sense of the loss that tore his family apart.'

A lovely tale, told from the perspective of a ten-year-old boy. A story of love and grief.
James sister, Rose, died in London 5 years ago in a terrorist attack committed by a radical Moslem group. He and his sister Jasmine, Rose's twin, cannot live up to her memory. Their parents have distanced themselves in grief and bitterness; their mother has left them all for another man & their father is sliding further into alcoholism.
Because James was only 5 when his sister was killed he remembers very little about her, but he is expected to grieve as his parents do. Jasmine is left to cope with the loss of her twin as best she may. They have only each other to depend upon.
After their move to the Lake District, James only friend is Sunya, a Moslem girl in his class. His father's unreasoning hatred of all Moslems means James must keep her a secret from his father. James has no one to share his confusion with. Should he follow his father's wishes, or continue his friendship?
There are very strong themes of love, loss, grief, racism & friendship here, seen from a young boy's perspective. At no time does this perspective become cloying nor sentimental. It is delightfully told, amusing at times, beautifully written & very easy reading.

You've been tagged! Wishlist Tag release.
Thanks for the tag, this book looks very interesting. Onto Mt TBR it goes.
I really enjoyed this sad but full of hope young adult story. Mainly written from the perspective of young Jamie, it was the story of a family breakup after the tragic death of Rose, the twin sister of Jamie’s older sister Jasmine.
Simply told, but full of depth and involving lots of issues - family breakdown, death and how to deal with it, racial intolerance, alcoholism, bullying...but in the end the story was about love and hope.
Belatedly on it’s way to fulfil a Wishlist tag.

Wow - a 2015 world book night book. This bought back memories of me distributing books in Ireland and the UK when I lived there…I once did the Dublin Literary Tour lugging a wheelie suitcase and at the end opened the suitcase to allow people to take a copy of “Stuart: a life backwards”.
Thank you for sending this book to me.

A highly recommended read; a lot of things are “of the time” such as Ofsted inspections of schools and Britain’s Got Talent auditions.
Thank you for passing this on.
