Often characterized as science fiction, though that doesn't quite describe it. A brilliant linguistic creation and a meditation on history, language and memory, as well as the dark human fascination with the power to destroy. It's set in a future where our world has been wiped away by nuclear catastrophe and that world and its language exist as altered memories. The narrator is justly compared to Huck Finn. This is a wonderful, powerful, brilliant book. I wish everyone could read it.
