At long last I have finially picked up this novel. I'm only on page 16 but I had to share the following snippet (regarding the Eiffel Tower) which made me snort for some reason:

'Langdon nodded absently. Symbologists often remarked that France--a country renowned for machismo, womanizing, and diminutive insecure leaders like Napoleon and Pepin the Short--could not have chosen a more apt national emblem than a thousand-foot phallus.'

Okay, so I'm in a silly mood!

This is a very interesting concept for a mystery. I found the premise behind the story to be thought-inspiring. (I even googled a picture of "The Last Supper" so I could look at it while reading.) I did not take any of this story to be factual but I love the theory! I would love to discuss this more but I don't want to spoil it for any future readers. I will say there was one clue that I thought was incredibly simple that seemed to take the characters forever to figure out that drove me batty.

My only other complaint is that the writing sometimes seems very amateur in this novel...usually when the author is writing dialog. That aside I did find the author sucked me into the story and there were several turns that surprised me. This mystery is quite a ride.

This book arrived today. However, a friend knew how much I wanted to read it, so had given me a copy already. Unfortunately, I didn't get the message to the prior participant until she had already put it in the mail.

Well, this gives me the opportunity to journal my thoughts of the book anyway :)

I loved this book. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. They mystery was pretty straightforward, until the end (I didn't expect some of those final twists!) The best part of this book, for me, was everything surrounding the mystery - how the author wove historical and spiritual theories into the modern day quest. This book really spoke to a lot of my personal beliefs. I'm so glad alrescate decided to share it with us.

I'll send it out to the next person on the list as soon as i get an address.

Thanks so much alrescate!

I can understand why this book has been on the best seller list for so long. It's a really fun book, especially for someone like me who loves wordplay and puzzles. It's not the most well-written book (the dialogue seems a little corny and contrived at times and a lot of the twists were rather predictable), but it is undeniably entertaining. I'm glad I finally got a chance to figure out what all the hype was about!

I'll be sending this along to bookaholic2 next!

At long last this book has been found! After almost two years of being MIA, Lj-in-Tx received the book in a box that showed up on her doorstep one day. She had no idea why she got the box and thought it might be a RABCK, but then discovered it was part of a box-ring. Since this book didn't fit into the "theme" she contacted me to see what she should do with the book. I'm having her send it back to me and I will contact everyone to see if they are still interested in reading this.

*Update*

The book has arrived back on my doorstep!

August 2006: It seems the former ring members have already found a copy of this to read so I will be releasing it into the wild.
