I saw this several times in second hand places recently, so I decided it must be trying to tell me something & bought it. I know nothing about it so it'll be an adventure for me!

Someone told me that Vikram Seth was a 'difficult' writer, so I'd been putting this off for quite some time. However, I didn't find it a difficult read at all & enjoyed it. It's a fascinating insight into the life of a professional musician.

Did a sort out of all the books set aside for volunteers to read, and I'd say this one has had a fair amount of use over the years. Decided to read it again before I passed it on. One of those books full of lovely prose but where not much happens. Didn't suit my mood a bit at the time, and it was a pleasure to reach the end. Not bad enough to give up on, but not good enough to say I'd enjoyed it.
It's interesting now, seeing my previous review, how I enjoyed it last time. It encourages me to stick it in a pile of books to pass on to a friend regardless. Perhaps it's all in the headspace you're in at the time.
