Piece of Cake

October 2015: No. 4 in the chronology of the air force novels (well neglecting A Splendid Little War, which I have yet to find a copy of). Deals with the opening year up to the Battle of Britain. Although I appreciate the need to dispel myths it risks going too far and making everyone in the RAF seem incompetent). It is a little bit tedious hanging round in France waiting for something to happen. Well it probably was, but the increasing intensity of sorties then seems intense by comparison. relatively little of the book treats the Battle of Britain. The slow improvements to the Hawker Hurricane are seen to make this aircraft more useful, even if never quite the star the Spitfire became.
