Bought this in a thrift shop in Glasgow, forgetting that I had an unread copy at home. This will stay in Glasgow a bit. (Still unread, this copy has now migrated to Switzerland)

Somehow I wound up with two copies of this book. This reminded me a lot of other books in the contemporary Irish chicklit genre (minus in some cases, the boozing) - Keyes, Binchy, Ahern - for starters. Nonetheless the spectrum of characters was much broader and as I enjoy that genre anyway, it was a satisfying holiday read. Although initially I found it almost excessively patchworky, flipping through the various characters' lives, but gradually, as they became better defined and people in their own right, I found it more compelling. Prudence remained a mystery, not sure why, other than to leave someone who despite quirkiness, is unpleasant through to the end? I was very moved by Rae's story. This copy is currently in Mallorca.
This flew from Mallorca to Switzerland and now has travelled by car from Switzerland to France. Now it heads off to Canada, thanks to bookmooch. Enjoy!
