Very well written young adult novel, but the science is now very dated. (The science of the interstellar travel was dodgy to start with).

Example of dated technology: they navigate their space ships by taking photographic plates of the star field, making measurements on the plates, and typing these measurements into the computer...

But the story is as good as it ever was, and well worth reading.

In the middle lime kiln!

We were surprised and annoyed to find that cars can no longer get up Limekiln lane - there's a bollard blocking it quite near the bottom. But the old quarry with the lime kilns can be reached from Milton Lane in Wells (not Milton Lane in Wookey Hole!)

I caught this book at Old quarry, Limekiln Lane, Wookey Hole in Wells, Somerset United Kingdom on Sunday 23rd March 2008 while out taking a walk (having discovered the bollard problem on a previous visit) I have every intention of reading it, after finishing the book I'm currently reading and will pass it on when finished.
