I'm downsizing in a Big Way - and that includes culling my Keeper Shelves of many, maybe even most if I keep this up for long enough, of the books that I've kept for a possible re-read. Being realistic, I know that I have far too many unread books hanging around the house waiting to be read to go back and reread the old ones, however much I enjoyed them the first time around!

Today I'm letting go of the last of my Margaret Atwood novels, registering them and preparing them to set off into the big wide world to find new readers! Most of her fiction is memorable - but this one is particularly so, a haunting tale of justice and injustice in 19th century Canada.

Amazon Editorial Review: "In Alias Grace, bestselling author Margaret Atwood has written her most captivating, disturbing, and ultimately satisfying work since The Handmaid's Tale. She takes us back in time and into the life of one of the most enigmatic and notorious women of the nineteenth century.
Grace Marks has been convicted for her involvement in the vicious murders of her employer, Thomas Kinnear, and Nancy Montgomery, his housekeeper and mistress. Some believe Grace is innocent; others think her evil or insane. Now serving a life sentence, Grace claims to have no memory of the murders.
Dr. Simon Jordan, an up-and-coming expert in the burgeoning field of mental illness, is engaged by a group of reformers and spiritualists who seek a pardon for Grace. He listens to her story while bringing her closer and closer to the day she cannot remember. What will he find in attempting to unlock her memories? Is Grace a female fiend? A bloodthirsty femme fatale? Or is she the victim of circumstances?"

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Holiday reading for my neighbour (M)

Over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 more than ten million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!

This was one of many books kindly given to me by Nu-Knees. Sadly, I've run out of time to read it as I'm off again exploring the world. It looks a brilliant read though, so I'm looking forward to reading about its journey as we both travel in different directions!
