It is so easy to look at the prostitute as a villian. This book, set in the late 1700's, makes Mary Saunders very human. This was not an easy read but it was worth the work to see inside Mary's brain, and experience her joys as well as her troubles. This was a real study of a strong, spirited woman who refused to give up her liberty. I liked Mary!
