She's Come Undone
6 journalers for this copy...
One of the best books I have ever read. She's Come Undone touched my heart in so many different ways and I just have to share it. Book Description:
"Mine is a story of craving: an unreliable account of lusts and troubles that began, somehow, in 1956 on the day our free television was delivered...."
Meet Dolores Price. She's 13, wise-mouthed but wounded, having bid her childhood goodbye. Beached like a whale in front of her bedroom TV, she spends the next few years nourishing herself with the Mallmomars, potato chips, and Pepsi her anxious mother supplies. When she finally rolls into young womanhood at 257 pounds, Dolores is no stronger and life is no kinder. But this time she's determined to rise to the occasion and give herself one more chance before really going belly up.
In this extraordinary coming-of-age odyssey, Wally Lamb invites us to hitch a wild ride on a journey of love, pain, and renewal with the most heartbreakingly comical heroine to come along in years. At once a fragile girl and a hard-edged cynic, so tough to love yet so inimitably lovable, Dolores is as poignantly real as our own imperfections. She's Come Undone includes a promise: you will never forget Dolores Price.

after a litle confusion, it arrived safe and sound!
thanks a lot, moondancer11! =)
About 15 minutes after reading the last page of another book this morning the mailwoman rang the doorbell to hand me this book. Timing couldn't be better! Thanks fio-dagua for sending it so promptly after my last pm :) I'll start reading probably tonight.
I have mixed feelings about this book. It was 'un-put-downable' and at the same time I was angry with Dolores for hiding from her feelings, especially after her time in the mental hospital. To my relief she keeps trying and finally finds some happiness in life.
Sent a pm to Co-ste for her/his address according to the original mailinglist order.

Today I'm mailing this book to Finland. Happy reading RoryG!
Got it safe and sound. Can't wait to start reading this. Thanks so much MoonDancer11 for organizing this ring and dutch-flybaby for sending the book.
Oops, I forgot to include Moondancer11's letter with the book. I will pm RoryG right away for her address (I didn't save it) so book and letter can continue their travels together.
Mailed the letter to RoryG at the postoffice today :) Thanks for the swift reply!
As dutch-flybaby, I was so mad at Dolores at times for not doing anything about her life and just surrendering herself to be a victim and blaming everyone else except herself. At first I didn't like the book that much but I couldn't really put it down either. And it kept getting better and in the end I liked it quite a lot.
I'll wait till I get the letter to go with the book. But if I don't get it by the end of next week, I'll just send the book on its way anyway. I will post here when I send the book.
Ok, I got the letter and the book's ready to go. Will mail it on monday (26.07.)
This was at the PO this morning, along with 4 other books. Will read as soon as possible. Thanks, RoryG!
Aug 17, I just finished this book. Wonderful! The story was so dark and not normal to begin with. It very clearly portrayed how far off track her life slid. She had a very long road back but she made it.
Contacting nest person on the list for their addy. Will mail as soon as received. :-)
Rec'd in mail this last week......Should be able to get started on it in a week or so.
PS. Kinda smells of cigarettes.....which I'm allergic to, so I'll try my best to get through it :)
lshsmom - I am so sorry to hear that my book smells of smoke. I am not a smoker, so the residue must have come from one of the other BCers on the ring. I hope you can still enjoy reading it.
If you think airing out the book might help and keep you from suffering from allergies, you have my permission to leave the book outside for awhile. Also, since the book has a plastic protective covering, you may want to try running a damp cloth over it.
