This is a simple copy and paste from Dan Brown's website:

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call: the elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum. Near the body, police have found a baffling cipher. Solving the enigmatic riddle, Langdon is stunned to discover it leads to a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci…clues visible for all to see…and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

Langdon joins forces with a gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, and learns the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion—an actual secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci, among others. The Louvre curator has sacrificed his life to protect the Priory's most sacred trust: the location of a vastly important religious relic, hidden for centuries.

In a breathless race through Paris, London, and beyond, Langdon and Neveu match wits with a faceless powerbroker who appears to work for Opus Dei—a clandestine, Vatican-sanctioned Catholic sect believed to have long plotted to seize the Priory's secret. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle in time, the Priory's secret—and a stunning historical truth—will be lost forever.

I will hand over the book to Bookcrosser next wednesday 11th in Utrecht.

I am not an expert on the thriller genre, but I certainly enjoyed this book; it is a real page turner, full of unexpected twists and turns. Dan Brown must have done a lot of research for the book, and much of the information (about symbolism, about the history of the catholic church, about secret societies) is interesting, although at times a bit much.

In March the book will travel to another bookcrosser

Finished it last week and will pass it on to silvertje at the meeting in April. Meanwhile, the book has moved on to the other side of the bed. I'll urge Jeroen to write a journal, too. It might be his début as a bookcrosser!
About the book: it's nice when a thriller has something more to offer than just the whodunnit-element. Learnt some interesting things while reading (and will have forgotten most of it in a couple of weeks, but hopefully some of it will linger on...).

I got this one from a fellow bookcrosser at the BC-meeting in the Booklet at April 10. I've heard so much about this book. I'm glad I will finally have a chance to read it. It's on top of my to be read pile dying to be read!

I loved this book! It's been a while that a book has grasped all my attention, wanting to continue to read it even though you have to go to bed. The only thing that bugged me now and then were the obvious cliff-hangers, but that happens with thrillers. I especially liked the coding element within the book, it makes you want to think along.

I'm going to take the book to my work on Wednesday where it will be picked up by a relative of mumtotwins in the near future.
