Cornwall 1920
A young man stands looking out to sea. Behind him the horror of the trenches, and the most intense relationship of his life. Ahead of him the terrible unforeseen consequences of a lie.

The description of life in the trenches is incredibly graphic. You can almost feel and smell the mud. The characters were really brought to life in the story. However, this didn't grip me and I was in no hurry to pick it up each time. It went down better with everyone else at book group.

Interestingly the last person said it was left on the war memorial at Christ church but I found the book in summertown so someone has missed a slot!

This is an amazing book and I am getting thoroughly lost in it

I'm loving the idea of book crossing
