The book arrived today. I have some three or four books in line to be read before this one, but I'll try to be as quick as possible, so that people won't have to wait for too long.

I just love stories like this. I saw the movie about a year ago and had trouble adapting to the little differencies. Some things were actually better in the movie, I think they mostly rewrote the right parts, but I like the ending in the book better.

The point of view changes often, and I think it was a good choice for this book. One can really understand how Paying It Forward changes these people. What I think was not that good a decision was to jump in time too. To have flashes from future intersect the story without any explanation. Or to have time go by between chapters without giving some hint of it to the reader. It actually felt like the school semester would end a few weeks after it started. And suddenly two years had passed. But the story is good and I liked the characters, so I'm ready to forgive a lot.

This was waiting for me when I got back home from a short trip. Looking forward to reading it.

Journal Entry 5 by RoryG from Bluemont, Virginia USA on Sunday, April 25, 2004
I liked the book a lot. It was a positive story for a change. Even one person can change the world if he wants to. It was also nice, that the people weren't perfect. They screwed up sometimes, so I guess this was also about a second chance. I have seen the movie before, but I think I like the book better. Although, the movie wasn't bad at all. I just liked the global view of the book. That you really can change the world and not just the city you live in.

Well, I'll ship this off to GlasgowGal tomorrow.

*** UPDATE ***
13th June

This book has now made it up to the top of my rays and rings book pile. It accidentally got leapfroged by another book by mistake, but I'm now ready to dig in and start reading. Hopefully it'll be on its way to Katayoun very soon.

Journal Entry 7 by BC-08041015142 on Friday, June 18, 2004
I finished this book last night and I thought it was a great read. I must admit I found some of the writing confusing, especially in the beginning - and it took me a while to realise that some snippets were from other books and journals to supplement the main story. I agree with others that this probably wasn't the best style to write the story in. However, overall it was a great book, and once I got into the flow of the story, I found it very hard to put down, and it's a wonderful concept for a book (and for changing the world).

This will be off to Katayoun tomorrow.

This was in my mailbox when I got home from vacation today, along with 2 other bookrings. I haven't determined what order I'll read them in, so will update when I begin to read this one.

Thank you katayoun for the postcard!

UPDATE: Aug 25 - I have just started to read this book. Will post again when I've finished reading and am ready to send on.

Journal Entry 12 by brewster13 from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Monday, August 30, 2004
I liked this book - it was very easy to read, it didn't take much brain power to get through it. It was somewhat predictable (the love storyline), but I liked the thought of a 12-year-old working so hard to make the world better. The writing style was fine with me - I enjoyed the different perspectives, and think that the story may have just plodded along and been less enjoyable if told from only one perspective.

I will be mailing this to rubyjules either this afternoon or tomorrow. Will change status to traveling when it's in the mail. Enjoy!

Received today. Will read when I finish current bookring books that I'm reading.

This was a very good book. Thank you tantan for sharing. After reading some reviews and entries, I didn't think I would care for it much, but after just the first few paragraphs, I was hooked. Maybe it's because I haven't seen the movie, so I wasn't spoiled by knowing what was going to happen. I talked to a coworker about the movie, and think that, like usual, the book is much better.

I will be sending this out in the next couple of days.

Received in the post today. Will be reading shortly, though to be honest, the title is so familiar I might have read it already or there was a movie with the same title.

Nice read. I have seen the movie and as is typical, I enjoyed the book much more. Trevor has my heart.

Mailing out to kab123. Enjoy! :-)

What a wonderful story! I saw this movie a couple years ago and thought it was great so I was very happy that the book was even better. I think Mrs. Greenburg and Arlene were my favorite characters. Thanks for opening this up for a bookring! I'm sorry I kept it for so long!

I really enjoyed this book, the smallest of things brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. I'm not a sentimentalist so, if I must criticize, I found the ending overblown but otherwise a very good book. I would like to think that it could work...

Journal Entry 24 by Loopylou127 from Hassall Grove, New South Wales Australia on Thursday, March 16, 2006
Consider this a triple entry :0)
I received this last year during my on again off again internet NON-access - long story - I read it over the Christmas Holiday. I enjoy reading this and found it easy going just right for summer reading. You kinda hope its all happy and smiles, but it kinda works out?!

I have contacted sabavana and Fleebo but want to be skipped so it appears to be travelling home to tantan.
