The author is a social and political activist regarding protection of natural areas, and the opportunity to teach the reader often got in the way of the story. While I learned about the environmental and political complexities of the coal mining industry, I found it slowed the storyline and caused me to lose interest.

I picked this up from rureading today at the Bookcrossing meeting. Adding to Mt. TBR, but not sure when I will get to it.....

I liked this book and given the Alberta UCP Kenney bungle with re-opening strip mining for coal this book seems surprisingly relevant to today.
